What is Interact?
Interact is Rotary International’s service club for young people ages 14 to 18. Interact clubs are sponsored by individual Rotary clubs; we are lucky to be recognized by both the Langhorne and Feasterville Rotaries. Our goal is to help make our world a better place.
What does Interact do?
What doesn’t Interact do is perhaps a better question! We have projects going on throughout the entire school year. Several of these projects are walks to raise money for various causes, volunteering at Woods Services, organizing a holiday drive, adopting a soldier, and planning for our annual Neshaminy’s Got Talent competition.
What are the requirements to belong?
The major requirements are to attend monthly meetings and honor the commitments you make to events. Members must adhere to the Co-Curricular regulations regarding grades and attendance, per the student handbook. You must also participate in a minimum of three (4) service activities (walks, food drives, etc.) with Interact and pay $5 dues (to help pay for our activities). Oh, enthusiasm and dedication are good too!
When are the meetings?
Generally the meetings are the first Thursday of the month but sometimes holidays cause the meeting dates to be changed. Consult the schedule and listen to the announcements.
What happens if I don’t go to the meetings?
We consider the meetings to be an important way to stay in touch with the members of the organization. If you fail to attend the meetings, you won’t know what is going on and you will not be an asset to our organization. Therefore, if you miss two meetings without a valid excuse (work, doctors, or dental appointments are not valid excuses) you will be removed from the membership list.
Where do I go if I have a question about a meeting or event?
Questions can be answered by Ms. Drake or any of the Core Members. Ms. Drake teaches in G213 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th & 7th; she can typically be found in the G213/English IPC during 3rd and 6th. It is often easier to send an email to sdrake@neshaminy.org or contact her via the Neshaminy Interact Club Facebook page.
****Parental involvement is welcomed and appreciated. We often need people to drive us to events or to act as chaperones. If your parent or guardian might be interested, please see Ms. Drake or e-mail at [email protected].****
